Poker Texas Hold’em is a community card game where the players combine their hole cards with the community cards placed open on the table to make the best possible five card hand.
In Texas Hold’em blinds are used as forced bets to initiate more action. There is the small blind and the big blind. The size of the small blind is equivalent to half the size of the big blind.
In casinos a dealer button is used to mark the person representing the dealer. The dealer button is a white round plate positioned in front of the player who’s sitting on dealer position. The dealer button moves clockwise one step after each hand is completed. To sit on this spot is called sitting on the button.
There are four betting rounds in Texas Hold’em, those all have their own names which are; pre-flop, flop, turn and river. In Fixed Limit the structure of betting is divided in two. On the first two betting rounds players make small bets and on the last two betting rounds they make big bets.
In No Limit a player can bet any amount above minimum up to what is left in front him or her. The minimum bet is equal to the big blind or the size of a previous bet on that betting round. In Pot Limit a player can bet or raise up to the size of the pot. Here you can read more about how to play poker.
Standard for Texas Hold’em is that one bet and three raises are allowed before the betting is capped and it is no longer possible to raise anymore (exception here is if only two players are remaining at the start of the betting round they can bet how many times they want).
